There is the Infprmation Seveice at the corner under Kotokuji temple.
Climbing the slope way from it, we would find the site of the buildings which was a elementary school of the town. The wooden houses of ex-school has a nostalgic taste. They are standing on a hill higher than the temple.
There we can look over totally the town.

At the center of the town are the sites of Honjin and Waki-Honjin, the Okutanis which are now the Museum of history and folklore.
The Shimazakis had been nominated for the chief of Honjin and mayor generation after generation until the end of Edo period.
